June 5, 2010

Another lovely (but hot and breezy) day. I'm sorry the pictures the past couple days haven't been exactly fascinating. I guess that's just how it goes when you have California-ish weather. Maybe some storms will roll in soon and give me some better photo opportunities.

[Edit}

I spoke too soon. After I got off my shift at work around 9 p.m. I noticed that the sky was looking pretty cool. I snapped a couple shots through my window before heading over to the roof of a nearby parking garage to take a few more shots. Because of the direction of the impressive clouds, I couldn't avoid powerlines. Incredibly frustrating. If I had a good way to photoshop them out, I would.

Another uneventful weather day. I worked a little in the morning, and even as early as 8:45 a.m. when I was headed off to my shift it felt hot. Later on, even though it was only around 89 or 90 (hot, but not as hot as it could be), it felt extremely hot. Just a walk made me sweat like crazy. My humiity-intolerant hair was having trouble staying straight, though, so I supposed humid air was probably the culprit.

Nothing too eventful happened today. It was a nice day to just chill and enjoy the weather.

These pictures were actually taken in the opposite direction of the Capitol Building. I'm happy with how these shots turned out, but I just wish a plane had taken off during the sunset. The airport is basically lined up with where the sun was the brightest, and it would have made for a cool shot.

Well, I was up bright and early to clock out of my shift, and it appeared that the storms were over. The ground was still wet, but the sun was beginning to peek out from behind the clouds. It was a much cooler day than it has been recently (it reached about 78), but it was refreshing.

June 1, 2010--Part II

Here are a few more pictures. I'm sorry about the horrible glare and picture quality of the pictures taken through my window. I'm still on a mission to get at least one of those screens removed. The clearer pics were taken from the roof of a nearby parking garage. Anyway, this rather cool storm would be entertaining to watch under most circumstances, but unfortunately for me, I had to be at my first shift for my new job at 7 p.m. I ended up driving, but my shorts and jacket were completely soaked just in the trip from the building to my car. As I type this, my shorts have completely dried off, but my socks are still damp. :( Mother Nature has awful timing sometimes.

June 1, 2010--Part I

I have quite a few pictures to share for this particular day, so I'm doing this post in two parts. First, the top photo shows what the sky looked like when I woke up. There were already some storms and showers in the area, and it wasn't even 9 a.m. The second picture shows the blue sky moving in as the showers passed on through Lincoln. I don't have any pictures of the bulk of the day, which was actually clear, sunny, and hot. The third picture shows the rather ominous look of the sky around 5:30 p.m. I knew we were in for some severe whether after seeing that.
